Metadata Technical System Administrator

Job Summary
This role is responsible for administrating metadata tool functions and procedures, working with technical and business partners to develop common understanding and effective uses of metadata. Collaborates with IT and the business teams to develop, implement and support effective guidelines for technical and business metadata. Support system development projects with loading metadata assets to the repository, and provide metadata change management support.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for generation and maintenance of the data footprint and inventory regarding the Enterprise Data environment.
  • Use appropriate system methodologies for analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation and modification.
  • Design, document and prototype solution in an agile manner.
  • Serve as the focal point for all technical issues and questions on ASG Data Intelligence accounts.
  • Support trials, and design and develop prototypes and proofs-of-concept solutions that address customer needs.
  • Experience developing scalable, high-availability applications
  • Write code that utilizes the latest design patterns and best practices in a test-driven development environment.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering. 3 or more years of experience as a metadata repository administrator. Metadata Management and Data Management Knowledge and Skills: - Strong advocate for data and metadata management principles - Strong knowledge of computer programming languages, ETL packages and code.

In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred: Experience with projects relevant to the focus of this position which includes

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required - 3 or more years of experience required in database, metadata and data management, application development, good communication skills, supporting business and technical users, excellent customer service

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications: - Associate’s degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems/Technology, or related major field of study - 5 or more years of experience required in database, metadata and data management, application development, good communication skills, supporting business and technical users, excellent customer service.

    • ASG Enterprise Data Intelligence, previously known as Rochade (desired)
    • MS Office(required)
    • ETL tools (required)
    • CASE Tools (desired)
    • Relational DBMS (required)
    • Data Modeling (desired)
    • Data Administration (desired)
    • Data Profiling (desired)
    • ETL Tools (required)
    • BI Tools (desired)
    • Non RDBMS (desired)
    • Java (required)
  • Minimum of 5+ years information & enterprise management experience planning, architecting and implementing enterprise wide-wide solutions (required).
  • Understand multiple solution-area methodologies and the application of technology to implement them.
  • Broad knowledge of environments in which solutions will be deployed -- web technologies, Java and .Net architectures, UML and ER modeling disciplines.

Desired Skills and Experience

Proven experience in developing functional applications and systems of medium to high technical complexity - Windows administration experience (scheduled task maintenance, log maintenance) - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Excellent Customer service skills - Time management and organizational planning skills - Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities; Troubleshoot issues - Ability to collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and milestones - Strong practical experience with harvesting Data Lineage and Metadata

  • Strong ability to listen to business needs, identify desired outcomes and craft comprehensive solutions while building credibility in relationships.
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Autonomy and ability to manage projects with a strong focus on user case requirements.
  • Self-starter with willingness to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Good technical knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MSSQL, Teradata, Postgresql etc.), ETL (Informatica, SSIS, Wherescape), Modeling (Toad), BI (Cognos, Business Objects, SSRS, Tableau) and Big Data (Hadoop, Hive).
