The training analyst/instructional designer serves as a specialist in the planning and execution of training and/or research assignments with the user and subject matter expert (SME) communities. This position conducts needs assessments, develops and curates training material, and leads/facilitates training events.  Based on an accurate needs analysis, deliverables will be created in various forms such as, videos, instructional guides, quick reference cards, workshops, and eLearning.  The training analyst engages in professional training evaluation for the program and delivers on the targeted dates. This work is both independent and collaborative in nature.


Requirements and Responsibilities


  1. Works and collaborates with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  2. Works and collaborates with other training professionals and Learning Management System Admins to prepare Learning Events
  3. Facilitates/presents in small/large groups during training sessions, such as end-to-end walkthroughs of the user interface and the finished product
  4. Develops and recommends methods and materials for other presenters/trainers and SMEs
  5. May propose new curriculum, ideas for group discussions, demonstrations, workshops, and instructional graphics.
  6. Reviews and evaluates training request for the program to ensure the training needs are being fulfilled through sprint cycles
  7. Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content with on-the-job application as the outcome.
  8. Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays and dry runs)
  9. Prepares auxiliary plans for training project completion, including comprehensive scripting/thematic/storyboarding and timelines. Coordinates related training events. 
  10. Remains current on developments in training and instructional methodologies, including technology enhancements, and attends forums and agile ceremonies to ensure currency of education as system is being enhanced.
  11. Assists in the development of IT knowledge transfer and cross train material for the program. 
  12. Maintains project documentation and course folders up-to-date on SharePoint intranet sites
  13. Analyzes existing training program delivery, content, and aids to measure effectiveness and recommend Improvement.
  14. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of the program training demand.
  15. Prepares training status reports, exhibits, communications and training desk procedures as required.

Required criteria

  1. Proven working experience in training analyst/instructional design capacity (examples may be requested)
  2. Expert knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  3. Extensive lesson and curriculum planning skills (examples may be requested)
  4. Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System
  5. Ability to write effective, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  6. Ability to facilitate learning sessions with early adopters and/SME audiences who may be resistant to new tools and processes - with an outcome of buy-in, acceptance, and champion mindset.


Preferred criteria

  1. Three years of relevant experience
  2. Bachelor's degree in relevant field or additional relevant experience and training
  3. Knowledge of Agile methodology
  4. Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential
  5. Visual design skills (Adobe Captivate 9, TechSmith Camtasia 8, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC) and ability to storyboard and/or create Infographics
  6. Adobe Captivate 9 (for rendering eCourse and interactive content into HTML5 outputs)
