IT Principal Engineer, Engineering Software

We are changing the way Micron thinks about IT solution delivery to enable business value and are looking for an experienced technical lead to support SSD Engineering Analytics and Reporting activities.  We have started a major collaboration effort with our Design Engineering and Product Engineering teams; and custom analytics and reporting will help them enable key company objectives.  We want someone with a demonstrated technical understanding of Data Analytics and Reporting, and the ability to work with engineering stakeholders engaged in SSD and managed NAND technologies. 


Ideal candidates for this role will have a good understanding of Software Development technologies, Reporting tools, and Agile development processes.  In this role, you’ll be expected to come up with highly innovative solutions and be obsessive about the end user experience. You will be working in a fast-paced, iterative environment with the stability of working for a global, established and competitive technology company. Your primary responsibilities will be to grow, develop and lead Micron’s Analytics and Reporting capabilities and corresponding technologies. You’ll also work with business stakeholders to help define analytics needs, provide thought leadership on emerging analytics technologies and create best of breed solution experiences that will set the standards for future collaboration.



  • Define, execute, and manage the solution strategy for Micron’s SSD Engineering Analytics and Reporting needs.
  • Optimize Data Analytic and Reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate with other IT Software Development teams to develop a robust reporting infrastructure.
  • Partner with peers in other Solution Delivery Areas, Infrastructure and Operations, Information Security, Analytics, and worldwide site teams, across Technologies to develop, and drive analytics and reporting solutions.

  • A strong technical leader with 10+ years in software technology solutions experience

  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams at scale across multiple geographies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with a drive to deliver solutions that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations
  • Experience in agile methodologies and how to instill an agile mindset
  • Knowledge of product validation methodologies (Jenkins, MTAP, continuous integration desired)
  • Knowledge of product development tools (JIRA, Confluence, IntelliJ Idea, Python, Java desired)
  • Knowledge of analytics and reporting tools (Tableau, BIRT, R, Excel pivot tables desired) Knowledge of Linux system administration desired

BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
