Position Description:

The Controls-Instrumentation Electrician is responsible for performing electrical maintenance on all facilities support systems. This individual needs a working knowledge of motors, motor controls, UPS systems and must be able to read and interpret schematics. 

 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Analyze motors, motor controls and other electrical equipment to identify problems.
* Install, troubleshoot and repair electrical components in systems.
* Perform Preventive Maintenance (PMs) on equipment.
* Troubleshoot, service, modify, and repair production support systems from an electrical aspect.
* Troubleshoot and repair static and rotary UPS units.
* Install conduit, pull, and terminate wiring and test wiring for possible problems. 
* Perform corrective action on inoperative electrical components and systems.
* Replace failed parts (e.g., bearings, coils, fuses etc.).
* Utilize various types of electrical testing meters: Multi-meters, amp meters, high pot insulation testers, line disturbance monitors and other job related test equipment.
* Operate CUP Equipment with the assistance of Operations personnel.
* Utilize schematic drawings as a tool in troubleshooting control problems and problems with electrical systems.
* Read and review construction prints to identify possible problems with equipment designs and installations.
* Complete general housekeeping tasks
* Accurately complete documentation (e.g., Work Orders, Control Room Reports, etc.).

 

Minimum Requirements:

* Must hold or meet qualifications required to obtain current Idaho State Journeyman Electrical License.
* Possess broad background in maintenance of electrical systems.
* Ability to work productively with limited supervision.
* Ability to maintain positive working relationships.
* Ability to follow the principles of safe work practices.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships.
* Able to lift 50 pounds.
* Able to work from various heights using step ladders, extension ladders and man lift type equipment
* Able to work in underground vaults and confined space areas.
* Willing to work various shifts and holidays when required.
* Ability to use PC to gather, organize or share information.
