Does leading transformational change energize you?  Are you passionate about transforming data into Information that adds value and drives strategies?  Do you want to transform how the world uses data to enrich life?  Then Micron’s Director of Master Data Quality (MDQ) may be a fit for you.  As a thought and people leader, you would be responsible for creating the overarching data strategy for Micron’s $20+ billion-dollar global supply chain by engaging the MDQ team to deliver data quality and governance solutions that drive continuous improvement in: Vendor Master, Direct Materials, Product Master, Enterprise BOM, Manufacturing Attributes, Customer Master, and S&OP Master Data quality. 

 

The Master Data Quality (MDQ) team is comprised of Analysts, Solution Engineers, Software Engineers, Process Managers, and Master Data Specialists that have a passion for ensuring that Data becomes Information that provides a strategic value to our partner organizations and speeds the execution of the business through high-confidence automation.  We do this through system solutions, analytics, exploratory data mining, auditing, data governance, business process definition, advanced systematic monitoring, and change management – all continuously delivered through Agile teams and “quick-turn” methodologies to manage key master data elements to support the execution of Micron’s Global Operations team.

 

We design and deliver solutions that improve Micron's overall data quality for the source-to-market supply chain.  MDQ Managers are thought leaders, people leaders, and process leaders of teams of Master Data Management problem-solvers (some as direct reports, others as matrix-reporting relationships with partner organizations).  MDQ Managers bring innovative ideas that accelerate value delivery while relentlessly focusing on data quality & data management improvements. 

 

Key attributes of a successful candidate:

 

  • Experience leading enterprise, end-to-end supply chain Master Data responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience building high-performing organizations and operating models
  • Experience with Bill of Materials definition, change control and lifecycle management
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise source systems and systems that consume master, including Planning systems, ERP platforms and Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence
  • An understanding of the broader landscape of relationships and dependencies for master data elements
  • Strong understanding of enterprise system integration
  • Ability to serve as the Chief Master Data Steward and Product Owner for Data Quality solutions
  • Ability to create and maintain trusted relationships with cross program leaders (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Procurement, Finance, Engineering)
  • Comfort interfacing at the Executive (Vice President) Level and communicating both strategy and complex concepts in straightforward business terms


Leadership and cultural expectations:

  • Create accountability for issues that influence Data/Information Quality for the BOM, Material, Product, Business Partner, and S&OP Master Data pillars
  • Ensure that MDQ teams are properly staffed and trained to support relevant area requirements
  • Ensure active ownership and facilitation of stakeholder meetings and customer engagements
  • Regularly solicit feedback from stakeholders and peers on how the MDQ team can improve
  • Foster a strongly collaborative team culture (both intra and inter-team)
  • Drive teams to expand knowledge, contributions, and improve solution delivery methodology
  • Embrace and expand upon Sprint/Agile methodologies to improve speed of delivery
  • Create a passion for continuous process improvement and quality of service

 

Education and Professional Experience Required

 

  • Master’s degree in Business (Supply Chain Management), Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Ten or more year of progressive experience leading Master Data Management, data governance, data engineering and data architecture functions with a focus on supply chain relevant master data
  • Five or more years of experience leading large programs or transformational initiatives
  • Experience in Semiconductor or other complex manufacturing environment highly preferred
