Contamination Control Engineer

As a Contamination Control Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include strategic planning and management of instrumentation and systems utilized to ensure cleanroom, UPW systems, key Bulk Chemical delivery systems, and Process tool Mini-environments are monitored for integrity. You can expect to regularly interact with Production, Engineering, Facilities, Safety/PHA, and Lab personnel in order to fulfill various requests and gather critical information. Thus working effectively with others is an absolute must. Additionally, this role will require the following skills/abilities: project management, data analysis, research, metric development, and continuous improvement. This position requires a candidate who can thrive whether working independently or as part of team.

 

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing analytical testing using high sensitivity methods like swab sampling, VPD tests, impinger tests, particle analysis, etc
  • Coordinate and perform head-to-head testing of Contamination Control equipment options
  • Perform tool/area contamination troubleshooting to help solve process issues
  • Developing strategic projects and generate associated reports
  • Make decisions/recommendations regarding Contamination Control concerns for Pilot Fab and the Back-end areas
  • Testing of new materials and chemicals for cleanroom compatibility
  • Assess Facilities activity and construction taking place in the cleanroom for risk to product
  • Leveraging the various labs i.e. Surface, Chem lab, Clean Chem Lab, etc
  • Provide back-up support for Contamination Control Shift Technicians when needed
  • ERT response and support as needed
  • Installation, operation, and maintenance of Contamination Control instrumentation

 

Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • An in-depth understanding of cleanroom design i.e. filtration, HVAC/Air Handling, laminar air flow, pressurization, Airborne Molecular Contamination, EHSS principles, ISO standards, etc
  • Understanding of micro contaminate defects with respect to semiconductor wafer processing
  • Understanding of key Lab capabilities, instrumentation, sensitivities, units of measurements, etc
  • Excellent technical and mechanical aptitude using hand tools, obtaining measurements, and utilizing instrumentation
  • Proficient computer knowledge that can be applied to documentation and analysis using programs including MS Office Products like PowerPoint, Excel, and JMP (or similar statistical programs)
  • In depth knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and design of experiments
  • Excellent time-management, organization, problem solving skills, work ethic, and self-motivation
  • Great verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact productively with other team members.
  • Work shift flexibility

 

Education:

Minimum of a BS in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry or a related field is required.
