Construction Instrumentation Coordinator

As a Construction Instrumentation Coordinator at Micron Technology, you will oversee the installation, calibration and commissioning of control instruments for construction projects and work orders site wide.

This individual is guided by the overall objectives of a project. The Construction Coordinator deals with problems and projects of moderate complexity and applies good judgment relative to assignments. This individual retains and applies some basic knowledge of disciplines beyond own area of expertise. Impact of decisions may have some impact beyond the scope of own job. The Construction Coordinator develops and demonstrates basic project management skills.

 

In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
 

Personnel Management

  • Provide input to the Instrumentation Supervisor to determine crew size and hours worked
  • Resolve personnel conflicts or problems as they come up
  • Interface with contractor foremen and general foremen on issues pertaining to assigned projects and crews
  • Provide daily work assignments to contractors
  • Act as Micron host for contractors

 

Technical

  • Plan review – primary reviewer for assigned area or projects
  • Daily quality control enforcement for assigned areas and projects ( NEC and UL compliant)
  • Technical interface between project coordinators, engineering, operations other trades and contractors
  • Produce panel and instrumentation take offs and place material orders for assigned projects
  • Request quotes from vendors and track material PO status
  • Daily enforcement of Safety policies
  • Provide field engineering & layout on assigned projects
  • Attend all ECBP project meetings
  • Track project and work order status and keep Maximo and work lists current
  • Work with Supervisor to maintain UL508A and UL698A panel shop listing
  • Keep all record drawing and instrument specs up to date

 

Training

  • Provide on the job training for instrumentation techs and apprentices
  • Insure that  JHAs and Confined Space permits are being filled out properly
  • Follow up on accident reports, provide 5 why investigations and provide correctional training
  • Address safety issues with contractors and contractor Foreman

 

General

  • Keep Supervisor updated on pertinent issues with crew and jobs
  • Responsible to keep project areas and storage areas clean and organized
  • Monitor tool inventory and work with trade Supervisor to budget for needed tools
  • Attend kick-off and project specific meetings for assigned projects
  • Provide project coordinator with estimates and timelines as requested
  • Complete project punch list, QA checklists and ECBP toggles

 

Qualifications

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of industrial Instrumentation and Construction experience.
  • The ability to read and understand P&ID’s, I/O Matrix’s and Data sheets
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code NFPA70
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical safety in the workplace NFPA70E
  • Extensive knowledge of instrument calibration, set up and loop tuning
  • Excellent team work and team building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent computer skills including word, excel & power point
  • The ability to work on and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • The ability to be a self motivated worker
     

Education

Journeyman or Masters Electricians license or Instrumentation Technicians certificate from a certified instrumentation program  plus 10 years industrial instrumentation experience
