As a CAD Package Layout Designer at Micron Technology, you will work with multiple design teams to create various package design drawings and documents. Some of the major drawings are: circuit board layouts for semiconductor memory devices, electrical wire connection diagrams, and memory device package outline drawings. You will be required to research design rules and industry drafting standards to maintain global consistency and accuracy of design drawings. Other CAD Layout Designer job responsibilities include working with semiconductor package designers to perform design feasibility studies and provide written reports of findings; communicate with customers to resolve manufacturing issues; review, investigate and approve requests for design changes; and work with software companies to resolve issues and implement required upgrades.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities and Tasks

 

Create and Modify Drawings

-Perform substrate layout designs for semiconductor memory devices

-Design for optimum electrical performance, manufacturability, and package reliability

-Apply signal integrity design rules

-Document design rule violations

-Work with required engineering teams to make updates to design rules

-Perform circuit board layout studies

-Create layout feedback reports

-Create package design drawings using AutoCAD

-Create tooling dwgs for manufacturing departments

 

-Review finished design with all interested parties

 

 

Identify and Resolve Problems

 

-Use structured problem solving techniques

 

-Anticipate and analyze problems

-Generate alternative solutions, select the best solution and develop an action plan

 

-Troubleshoot software

 
   

Manage Projects

-Meet project timelines

 

-Update project status in current project tracking system

 

-Identify and review potential cost saving, quality improvements, and efficiency gainers

-Write project report documenting results obtained

 

-Use the Assembly documentation control process

 

 

Follow Drafting Standards

 

-Apply ANSI standards

 

-Apply Micron standards

 

-Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles

 

-Interpret different dwg views and projections

   
   
 

 

Contribute to a Safe and Compliant Work Environment

-Identify and promptly report hazards

-Follow safety procedures and area work rules

-Use proper lifting techniques and work in an ergonomically correct manner

 

Education

Required:                                                     

-Associates Degree in Drafting, Electronics or equivalent experience

--Proficient in verbal and written English

 

Desired:

-Experience in circuit board or substrate layout

-Proficient using Cadence software, APD (Allegro Package Design) and SiP (System in Package)

-Proficient using AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor software

 

Qualifications

 

-Proficient computer skills

-Ability to interact and work in a team environment

-Proficient drafting skills (ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics)

-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

-Detail oriented

 

Workplace

 

-International travel may be required on a quarterly basis

-Work environment will be office (cubical)

-Shift will be 8+ hour shift, 5 days per week, Days
